Hailing from Crosby, near Liverpool, Noah has made significant strides in his career after joining St Helens’ Under 16s at the age of 15 and progressed through the academy system, showcasing his skills as a prop forward.
Noah made his senior debut for St Helens in the Super League on May 10, 2024, against Castleford Tigers, marking him as the 1,287th player to represent the club. He is noted for his physicality, leg speed, and powerful ball carries. His development has been closely watched by the club’s academy coach Derek Traynor, who has highlighted Stephens’ potential for a significant role in the first team.
Stephens attended St Mary’s College and played rugby union at school and also had stints with Sale Sharks before committing to rugby league with St Helens, joining through their Scholarship programme at age 15 from the amateur club Pilkington Recs ARLFC. Stephens progressed through the ranks, making 21 appearances for the Saints’ Academy, where he scored six tries during the 2022-2023 season.
He signed his first professional contract with St Helens in 2023, a two-year deal with an option for a third year in favor of the club. He made his senior debut for St Helens on May 10, 2024, in a Super League match against Castleford Tigers, which St Helens won 60-4. This debut was significant as it marked him as the first player from the recent Academy champions to earn a Super League jersey under coach Paul Wellens.
