St Helens will open their defence of the Super League title in 2020 against last season’s beaten finalists Salford Red Devils on Friday 31st January in a repeat of the Grand Final fixture at Old Trafford in October.

In what will be a stern test of Saints and incoming Head Coach Kristian Woolf’s credentials, Saints face a huge test as they make their first away trip six days later, in a mouth-watering clash against last season’s Challenge Cup winners Warrington Wolves – the 2019 fixture proved to be one of the fastest, most thrilling contests of the season.

A significant change in 2020 will see teams play once across the Easter Weekend, with player welfare at the heart of the decision, but Saints traditional Good Friday derby game against Wigan Warriors remains Super League’s Easter centrepiece.

Other stand out fixtures for Saints are the two away clashes against the newly promoted Toronto Wolfpack. The first game against the Canadian side on 29th February will be played in the UK at a venue to be confirmed, due to the Wolfpack playing their first three home games ‘on the road’. Saints travel to Toronto for the first time on 2nd May – with that fixture scheduled a fortnight after the champions go to the south of France to play Catalans, in a period which could prove to be an expensive month for Saints travelling supporters, as Magic Weekend also returns to Newcastle on 23rd/24th May after a year away from the city.

Saints fans must wait until the penultimate round of the Super League season for the always eagerly anticipated away derby against Wigan, with that game not taking place until 4th September.
